Our logistics and coffee machine production in Minden.

As individual as the needs of our customers, we have repositioned our heart in 2017 in a variable way: coffee machine production in Minden. At the Melitta headquarters, existing halls have been sustainably renovated and converted, not far from the International Technology Center and the other central departments of our company Melitta Professional.
On 17,000 square meters, we manufacture our coffee machines in several lines and prepare them for delivery – according to high quality standards and with a lot of loving manual work.

Our production steps

Assembly

Filigree manual work: In pre-assembly, nimble hands assemble individual parts and assemblies.

Final assembly

In final assembly, current models are built and flexibly equipped according to customer requirements.

Technical Testing

At 52 semi-automated test stations, all functions are finally checked again.

Our production

In 2017, the strong growth of our production required new capacities. Production and logistics have been rebuilt in the immediate vicinity of our International Technology Center in Minden.

The Kanban train provides supplies as needed

The Kanban train commutes between the warehouse and assembly and delivers newly filled containers with components as required. The barcode on the cards (Kanban in Japanese) on the containers provides information about the contents, quantities and stock levels.

Variable positioning

The pre-assembly at the new location was designed with even faster to learn and even more variable. As a result, different lines work simultaneously for final assembly. The final assembly is relieved by the extended pre-assembly and is also able to act variably. This means that our coffee machines can be assembled according to the respective equipment requirements of our customers. We have automated the final technical inspection as much as possible with 52 newly developed test stations.

Equipment as desired

Flexibility is also required within the assembly lines: From the number of mills and bean containers, to the number of cocoa and milk varieties, to the selection of the appropriate milk cooling, cup warmer and payment systems – our customers can decide for themselves.
