In 1908, our founder Melitta Bentz invented the coffee filter and thus redefined coffee enjoyment. Since then, we have been driven by the question: How can we perfect the moment of pleasure? That's why we leave nothing to chance and attach great importance to the quality of the coffee bean. Through resource- and environmentally-friendly cultivation as well as our holistic, sustainable approach, we accompany every coffee bean from farm to cup. For the best quality, we maintain valuable partnerships with farms, suppliers and logistics companies.

The purchase of our green coffee
Melitta supplies you with coffees of the highest quality so that you can offer your customers a wide range of taste experiences. In order to live up to our own standards, we work along the entire value chain in long-term cooperation with coffee farmers in the world's best growing regions. We source our green coffee of the varieties Coffea Arabica and Coffea Canephora (Robusta) from farms along the coffee belt. Sustainability is particularly close to our hearts. That's why we support certifications such as Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, Organic and UTZ. In cooperation with the Hanns R. Neumann Foundation, we are also testing the sustainable recycling of organic waste: We not only use the coffee bean, but also use the entire coffee cherry including the pulp.
The right roast
How does the untreated coffee bean become fragrant, delicious roasted coffee of first-class quality? From 100 years of experience, we know that the valuable natural product coffee needs special roasting processes to become an aromatic luxury food. A good roaster knows how to treat the bean so that all 800 flavors can develop in the cup. Both in our large coffee roastery and in our manufactory in Bremen, we have completed the various roasting processes – no matter what quantities are involved. Whether intensive, light or Italian roasting, whether for filter coffee, café crème or espresso: At Melitta you get high-quality and fragrant coffee cup after cup. You can rely on that.
